13.Cavitation: refers to the phenomenon that the bubbles in the water accumulate, flow, split and burst when the pressure in the part of the channel decreases to the critical pressure (generally close to the pressure for vaporization).


14. Cavitation Erosion: refers to material damage to flowing parts caused by cavitation.

15. Abrasion: refers to material damages caused to the surface of flowing parts by the combination of cavitation and sediments in the water.


16. Cavitation Coefficient (“σ”): refers to the dimensionless coefficient showing the cavitation conditions of turbines


17. Suction Head of Turbine (“Hs”): refers to the height from cavitation reference level to tailwater level
